  1. Welcome to Adobe Acrobat Reader 2.1 for Windows 
  2.  
  3. Adobe(tm) Acrobat(tm) software gives you instant access to documents in 
  4. their original form, independent of computer platform. With the Acrobat 
  5. Reader, you can view, navigate, print and present any Portable Document 
  6. Format (PDF) file.
  7.  
  8. This Read Me file contains installation instructions and product 
  9. information for the Acrobat Reader program. The On-line Guide 
  10. (help_r.pdf) also provides essential information to help you begin 
  11. using Acrobat Reader 2.1.
  12.  
  13. If you are redistributing Acrobat Reader, place this Read Me file 
  14. standalone in the directory with the acroread.exe file to assist the end 
  15. user with installation of the program.

  27. NEW FEATURES IN ACROBAT READER 2.1
  28. ==================================
  29. Acrobat Reader 2.1 now runs under Windows NT 3.5 (or later), Windows 3.1, 
  30. and Windows 95, as well as OS/2 2.11 or later in Windows compatibility 
  31. mode. AdobeÆs ATM technology for rendering Type 1 fonts has been built 
  32. into Acrobat Reader 2.1 for Windows so it is no longer necessary to install 
  33. ATM on Windows systems. For Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, installing ATM is 
  34. an option (not included with the Reader) that may improve performance of 
  35. printing documents with Type 1 fonts to non-PostScript printers.
  36.  
  37. Acrobat Reader 2.1 now accepts some specially enabled plug-ins, such as 
  38. Weblink and Movie. This allows Acrobat Reader users to take advantage of 
  39. new capabilities in PDF files created with Acrobat Exchange, for example 
  40. following World Wide Web (URL) links or viewing QuickTime and AVI 
  41. (Windows only) movies within a PDF document.
  42.  
  43. Printing quality has been improved to non-PostScript printers.
  44.  
  45. Limitations in printing to some non-Postscript printers with non-square 
  46. pixels (some fax modems and dot-matrix printers) have been removed.
  47.  
  48. Acrobat Reader 2.1 generates DSC-compliant PostScript when used with the 
  49. AdobePS 3.0 (or later) driver.
  50.  
  51. INSTALLING ACROBAT READER
  52. =========================
  53. - To install Acrobat Reader 2.1 on your hard drive, from the Windows 
  54. Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu; type 
  55.   [drive]:\acroread.exe 
  56. - Follow the instructions on your screen.
  57. - Installation requires approximately 3 MB of free hard disk space. 
  58.  
  59. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  60. ===================
  61. - 386- or 486-based personal computer (486 recommended)
  62. - Microsoft Windows 3.1 or greater
  63. - 4 MB application RAM
  64. - 4 MB hard disk space
  65. - 1.44 MB 3.5" floppy disk drive

  67. USING THE WEBLINK TOOL WITH ACROBAT READER
  68. ==========================================
  69. To use the Weblink plug-in to follow links, you must set up your browser to
  70. recognize Acrobat Reader. See the Adobe Home Page (http://www.adobe.com)
  71. for information on configuring your browser to recognize PDF documents.
  72.  
  73. To install the Weblink plug-in:
  74.         1. Copy the Weblink plug-in to the Adobe Acrobat Plug-ins directory.
  75.         If you just installed Acrobat Reader, the Weblink plug-in may
  76.         already exist in the Plug-ins directory.
  77.         2. Restart Acrobat Reader.
  78.  
  79. To select your Web browser:
  80.         1. Choose Edit>Preferences>Weblink.
  81.         2. Click Browse, then select your Web browse from the dialog box.
  82.         3. Choose a Connection Type. Standard is the connection type for
  83.         the supported browsers Netscape 1.1 and Spyglass Mosaic 2.0.
  84.  
  85. To open your web browser from Acrobat Reader click the Web browser button
  86. in the toolbar. This feature fails intermittantly in Windows 95.
  87.  
  88. KNOWN PROBLEMS
  89. ================
  90. Errors During Acrobat Reader Installation
  91. When launched, the Acrobat Reader installer (ACROREAD.EXE) makes a copy 
  92. of the ACROREAD.EXE file in the temp directory specified in the 
  93. AUTOEXEC.BAT file. When the drive and directory listed in the "Set temp=" 
  94. line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file are invalid or you don't have write access 
  95. to that drive and directory,or enough space on the drive, the Acrobat Reader 
  96. installation fails, and returns the errors "Cannot load the language 
  97. library", "Cannot load the license agreement", or "Not enough free disk 
  98. space to continue installation".
  99.  
  100. Do one or more of the following: 
  101. A. Ensure there is at least 4-8MB free disk space available on the hard 
  102. drive onto which Acrobat Reader is being installed.
  103. B. Ensure the "Set temp=" line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT is valid: 
  104.  1. Open the AUTOEXEC.BAT file in a text editor that saves as text-only 
  105.  (e.g., Windows Write, Notepad). 
  106.  2. Locate the line that reads "Set temp=" and verify the drive and 
  107.  directory following the equal sign are valid. When the "Set temp=" 
  108.  line points to an invalid drive or directory, edit the line to point 
  109.  to a valid drive and directory, then save the file as text-only. 
  110.  3. Reboot the computer.
  111. C. Ensure you have write access to the drive where the TEMP directory 
  112. is located.
  113.  
  114. Windows95
  115. Installation From the Network -- If you set up a network server with 
  116. the Acrobat Reader installation disk images (this problem does not occur 
  117. with the single-file Reader Installer) so users can install Acrobat Reader 
  118. over the network, the user installing the software must run the 
  119. installation from a network drive that is mapped, not directly from the 
  120. Network Neighborhood. The easist way to assign (map) a drive letter to a 
  121. network computer or folder is as follows:
  122.  
  123. 1. On the Windows 95 desktop, right mouse click My Computer, and then 
  124. click Map Network Drive. The Map Network Drive dialog appears.
  125. 2. Select a Drive letter.
  126. 3. Select a Path to the network server you want. 
  127. For example:
  128. \\computername\foldername
  129. If a password is required, Windows prompts you. 
  130.  
  131. After the drive has been mapped, double click on My Computer to open the 
  132. My Computer window. The drive name and letter you just mapped will be 
  133. listed and can be used to navigate to the Acrobat Reader install disks.
  134.  
  135. Weblink Plug-in
  136. - Spyglass Mosaic under Win32s crashes intermittantly when a download is
  137. cancelled from Weblink.
  138. - An invalid gopher URL (e.g. gopher://example.com/pub/test.pdf) will
  139. download an error message as a text file with the PDF file name. Acrobat 
  140. Reader will return the message "There was an error opening this document. 
  141. File does not begin with %PDF-".
  142. - If the web browser is busy contacting the host for over one minute,
  143. Weblink will return the message "The web browser has not responded to
  144. your request for over 1 minute: terminating request". The browser may
  145. not respond to Weblink's attempt to cancel; use the web browser button
  146. in the toolbar to activate the browser and manually cancel the request. 
  147.  
  148. PCL Printing 
  149. The printer drivers shipped with Microsoft Windows 3.1 for the HP LaserJet 
  150. III, IIID, IIIP, and IIISi printers may not work well with Acrobat Reader 
  151. (and other applications for that matter). Adobe recommends you use a PCL 
  152. printer driver based on the Universal Printer Driver V.3.1.2. Here are four 
  153. ways to get this driver:
  154.  
  155. COMPUSERVE. Type "GO MSL" to get to the Microsoft Software Library forum. 
  156. Download the file named HPPCL5.EXE. Place this file on an empty, formatted 
  157. DOS diskette then from DOS run the file to extract the driver and 
  158. installation instructions which are in the file named printer.txt.
  159.  
  160. MICROSOFT'S BULLETIN BOARD. Microsoft's bulletin-board download service 
  161. can be reached at 206-936-6735. It supports up to 9600 baud and you should 
  162. set up your modem to use 8-bit, 1 stop bit, and no parity. Once connected, 
  163. there is a menu-driven bulletin board. Download the file named "HPPCL5.EXE" 
  164. and follow the same directions as above.
  165.  
  166. MICROSOFT. If you don't have a modem, you may call Microsoft directly at 
  167. 206-637-7098 to obtain the LaserJet III printer drivers on a diskette.
  168.  
  169. HEWLETT PACKARD. Again, if you don't have a modem, you may call Hewlett 
  170. Packard directly at 303-353-7650 and obtain the LaserJet III printer 
  171. drivers on a diskette. You may also use this number to obtain the latest 
  172. printer drivers for the HP LaserJet 4, DeskJet, and PaintJet families of 
  173. printers.
  174.  
  175. If you experience problems printing to HP LaserJet printers in the 600-dpi 
  176. mode try switching back to 300-dpi mode or if it is equipped with a 
  177. PostScript option, use the PostScript mode for 600-dpi printing. This 
  178. 600-dpi PCL5 printing problem does not seem specific to Acrobat.
  179.  
  180. If outline-style text is printing incorrectly to a PCL printer (outlines 
  181. printing on top of black characters) make the following change in the ATM 
  182. Conrol Panel: check the option to "Print ATM Fonts as Graphics." 
  183.  
  184. To properly print certain special text effects (such as shadow, zoomed 
  185. text, or outlined text) to non-PostScript printers it may be required to 
  186. select the Print ATM Fonts as Graphics option in the ATM Control Panel. 
  187. Certain printer drivers including the LaserJet PCL4 (Series II and higher), 
  188. PCL5 (LaserJet III and LaserJet 4 families) and the Lexmark PPDS (4029 & 
  189. 4029) always print black soft fonts on top of images and non-black text 
  190. strings. 
  191.  
  192. Documents with various graphic images may not print correctly to the 
  193. LaserJet 4 in PCL mode at 600 dpi unless the Graphics option in the Windows 
  194. printer driver setup is set to Raster mode. 
  195.  
  196. To increase printer performance of documents formatted entirely in 
  197. landscape orientation to non- PostScript printers the printer driver 
  198. must be set in landscape orientation in the Windows printer setup. 
  199.  
  200. Postscript Printing
  201. AdobePS 3.01 Driver  For best results when printing to PostScript printers, 
  202. Adobe recommends you use the AdobePS 3.01 (or later) driver. The driver  
  203. and installation instructions are included on the Acrobat Sampler CD.
  204.  
  205. AdobePS 2.1.1 Driver  You may experience problems when printing from 
  206. Acrobat Reader 2.1 when using the AdobePS 2.1.1 printer driver. The 
  207. problems occur in printing certain documents that use TrueType fonts 
  208. or extended characters, such as typographic quote marks. A PSPrinter 
  209. 2.1.2 update that fixes both of these problems is available. The AdobePS 
  210. 2.1.2 update upgrades an installed version of AdobePS 2.1.1 to 2.1.2 
  211. is available from the following sources:
  212.  
  213. COMPUSERVE.   Type GO ADOBE to get to the Adobe forum.
  214.  
  215. FTP.  AdobeÆs ftp Server is at ftp.adobe.com. The path to the updater is 
  216. ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/Applications/Drivers/Windows/adobeps.exe
  217.  
  218. WORLD WIDE WEB. AdobeÆs World Wide Web server is at http://www.adobe.com.
  219.  
  220. PHONE.  Call one of the following telephone numbers to have the 
  221. AdobePS 2.1.2 update disk sent to you directly. Shipping and handling 
  222. charges may apply.

  227. Note: The update is not the complete, standalone AdobePS 2.1.2 driver. 
  228. It will only update a previously installed version of AdobePS 2.1.1.
  229.  
  230. Memory Issues. If you encounter problems, such as as VMerror, printing 
  231. to PostScript Level 1 or 2 printers it may be because the printer has 
  232. little available memory (for example, a non-upgraded LaserWriter, LaserWriter 
  233. Plus, LaserWriter II NT or NTX). There are two potential solutions to this 
  234. problem: 
  235. 1/In the General Preferences dialog (select from the Edit/Preferences 
  236. menu) you may choose to use Serif only or Sans only for font substituion. 
  237. This frees up additional memory in the printer and chances are your 
  238. document will print successfully. 
  239. 2/The other option is to purchase more memory for your printer.
  240.  
  241. Apple Personal LaserWriter NT   If you are using an Apple Personal 
  242. LaserWriter NT printer that has not been upgraded to a Personal 
  243. LaserWriter NTR, Acrobat Reader won't be able to print substitute fonts. 
  244. Contact your Apple dealer for information on upgrading your printer.
  245.  
  246. Miscellaneous Issues
  247. CANON BJC 800 PRINTER In order to properly print text, graphics, and images 
  248. to this printer be sure to check the Use Print Manager option in the Printers 
  249. control panel. 
  250. CANON LBP-8IV  Use the printers "bitmap mode" for best results.
  251. COMPAQ MGA8.DRV VIDEO DRIVER  Using this video driver (installed on Compaq 
  252. DeskproXL 586 (1024x768, 640x480, 256 colors) with Compaq Qvision 2000 board 
  253. may cause Acrobat Reader to crash. Solution: Turn off Page Caching in the 
  254. Edit > Preferences > General dialog.
  255. HP DESKJET 500C  This printer has an unprintable area near the top of the 
  256. page. Be sure to use the Shrink to Fit option in Acrobat ReaderÆs Print 
  257. dialog.
  258. FONT NOT FOUND  A font not found error may indicate that ATM did not have 
  259. enough memory to create a substitute font. See the Improving Performance 
  260. section of this file for information on how to increase the memory available 
  261. to ATM (if installed).
  262. INSTALL  Due to problems with some Desktop Managers, during installation 
  263. the Adobe Acrobat  program group and the Acrobat Reader program item may 
  264. not be created. By default, the program is installed in the directory 
  265. c:\acroread and the executable is c:\acroread\acroread.exe.
  266. LOTUS NOTES  When you open an embedded PDF file from a Notes database, 
  267. the Acrobat Reader window seems to flicker slightly. This is because Lotus 
  268. Notes is giving Acrobat Reader OLE instructions to Show, Hide, then Show 
  269. the PDF document.
  270. MACH 32 VIDEO CARD FROM ATI  If you are using the MACH 32 ATI card, be 
  271. sure to use the 256-color mode with the Color Pallette ON. In other words, 
  272. do not use the 256-color mode with the color pallette off. For Acrobat, 
  273. make sure the Pallette is ON. 
  274. NEC ULTRALITE VERSA LINEAR DRIVER  Rotated images may display with artifacts 
  275. when using the UltraLite Versa Linear 640x480 256 color video driver. 
  276. Solution: Use the UltraLite Versa 640x480 256 color driver.
  277. NUMBER 9 VIDEO DRIVER  When Acrobat ReaderÆs page caching is enabled, if 
  278. you experience horizontal lines running across the page try turning off the 
  279. turbo mode in the #9GXE video driver. This can be done via the Turbo menu 
  280. in the program #9GXE Status available in the #9 Hawkeye Control 
  281. Panel.
  282. OLE  When viewing a PDF file which is an embedded OLE object, you can 
  283. only perform an incremental save, not a full save. Operations which 
  284. require a full size are things like inserting another PDF file. As a 
  285. result, you cannot perform this operation on an embedded OLE object.
  286. OS/2  Acrobat Reader should run in the Windows 3.1 compatibility mode 
  287. of OS/2 2.1 and OS/2 2.1.1.
  288. PAGE CACHING  Page caching is disabled for 16-bit and 24-bit displays 
  289. and the option is grayed out in the General Preferences dialog.
  290. PATTERNS  Files produced by the Acrobat Distiller containing patterns 
  291. may display slowly and cause memory shortages. This can often be the case 
  292. when applications represent patterns as thousands of small Type 3 font 
  293. characters. If you experience this problem, it is recommended to use 
  294. color rather than pattern fills.
  295. PC TOOLS FOR WINDOWS 1.0  No Adobe Acrobat group is created and no 
  296. program items/icons are created. See INSTALL problem above for description 
  297. of workaround. 
  298. PHONENET  PhoneNet does not properly map Macintosh file names containing 
  299. upper-ASCII characters. As a result, you will not be able to open any such 
  300. files in Acrobat Reader. Solution: DonÆt use special characters in file 
  301. names to be accessed by both Macintosh and Windows users over a 
  302. PhoneNet network.
  303. PRINTING FROM FILE MANAGER  Only one PDF file at a time can be selected 
  304. and printed from the File Manager.
  305. ROTATING PAGES  Rotating pages results in the loss of thumbnail images 
  306. for those pages. You can regenerate the thumbnails by choosing 
  307. Edit/Thumbnails/Create All. 
  308. ROTATED/TRANSFORMED TRUETYPE FONTS  You may encounter some problems with 
  309. displaying or printing rotated or otherwise transformed TrueType fonts. 
  310. This is a limitation of TrueType and Windows. For best results, we recommend 
  311. you use Adobe PostScript Type 1 fonts in your documents. 
  312. STANDARD MODE  Acrobat Reader 2.1 does not work in standard mode; you 
  313. must be running Windows 3.1 in enhanced mode.
  314. SYSHOOK  Syshook is an application that patches the system menus of 
  315. applications; it does not work well with Acrobat Reader. 
  316. TRUE TYPE  TrueType fonts cannot be reencoded. Because of this limitation, 
  317. documents that were created using some special characters in a Type 1 font 
  318. may not display correctly if a TrueType version of the font with the same 
  319. name is installed on your system. When this happens, the error message 
  320. "Some text in the font and character 'FONTNAME ###' could not be displayed 
  321. or printed correctly. The font could not be reencoded." is displayed. Since 
  322. the Acrobat installers do not replace TrueType versions of Times, Helvetica, 
  323. and Courier you may get this message with these fonts. Solution: Use the 
  324. Custom Install option to install a Type 1 version of these fonts.
  325. WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS  The Windows for Workgroups Netware extensions 
  326. (\windows\netx.com) have been known to cause problems with Acrobat Reader's 
  327. Open dialog, as well as other applicationÆs Open dialog. 
  328. Solution: Contact Microsoft.
  329. WRONG COLORS  If the colors on your monitor seem completely wrong, 
  330. try the following. In the Acrobat Reader's ini file (c:\windows\acroread.ini) 
  331. try changing the line 'IS8514=4' to 'IS8514=105'.
  332.

  334. TO CREATE YOUR OWN PDF DOCUMENTS
  335. ================================
  336. To take full advantage of the benefits of electronic documents, you can 
  337. purchase Acrobat Exchange, Acrobat Pro, or Acrobat for Workgroups with the 
  338. coupon contained in the Acrobat Reader On-line Guide (available on the 
  339. Acrobat CD Sampler). With the full Acrobat products, you can:

  341. - Create your own electronic documents as easily as printing from your 
  342.   existing applications with PDF Writer.
  343. - Protect your files with passwords; control access, printing, changing 
  344.   the document, adding and changing notes, copying text and graphics.
  345. - Find exactly what you need across multiple PDF files by searching on 
  346.   keywords, author, title, subject synonyms, etc.
  347. - Reuse information easily by extracting, copying, reordering and replacing 
  348.   pages among PDF files -- with bookmarks, links and notespreserved.
  349. - Create your own custom views into information.
  350. - Add value, set priorities and maintain a dynamic information network 
  351.   with links, bookmarks, notes and connections to external applications 
  352.   and documents.
  353. - Take advantage of third-party plug-ins to add new features to  Acrobat.

  428. confidential information of Adobe and its suppliers. You agree not to modify, 
  429. adapt or translate the Software. Trademarks shall be used in accordance with 
  430. accepted trademark practice, including identification of trademark ownerÆs 
  431. name. Trademarks can only be used to identify printed output produced by the 
  432. Software. Such use of any trademark does not give you any rights of ownership 
  433. in that trademark. Except as stated above, this Agreement does not grant you 
  434. any intellectual property rights in the Software.

  436. 3. Transfer. 
  437. You may not rent, lease or sublicense the Software. You may, however, transfer 
  438. all your rights to use the Software to another person provided that you 
  439. transfer this Agreement with the Software.
  440.  
  441. 4. General Provisions.    If any part of this Agreement is found void and 
  442. unenforceable, it will not affect the validity of the balance of the 
  443. Agreement, which shall remain valid and enforceable according to its terms. 
  444. You agree that the Software will not be shipped, transferred or exported into 
  445. any country or used in any manner prohibited by the United States Export 
  446. Administration Act or any other export laws, restrictions or regulations. 
  447. This Agreement shall automatically terminate upon failure by you to comply 
  448. with its terms. This Agreement may only be modified in writing signed by an 
  449. authorized officer of Adobe. This is the entire agreement between Adobe and 
  450. you relating to the Software and the Documentation and it supersedes any 
  451. prior representations, discussions, undertakings. end user licence agreements, 
  452. communications or advertising relating to the Software and the Documentation. 
  453. This shall not prejudice the statutory rights of any party dealing as a 
  454. consumer.

  493. Nothing contained in this Agreement shall prejudice the statutory rights of 
  494. any party dealing as a consumer. Nothing contained in this Agreement limits 
  495. AdobeÆs liability to you in the event of death or personal injury resulting 
  496. from AdobeÆs negligence.

  498. Adobe is acting on behalf of its suppliers for the purpose of disclaiming, 
  499. excluding and/or restricting obligations, warranties and liability as 
  500. provided in this Clause 6, but in no other respects and for no other purpose.

  502. The provisions of this Clause 6 shall survive the termination of this 
  503. Agreement, howsoever caused, but this shall not imply or create any 
  504. continued right to use the Software after termination of this Agreement.

  506. 7. Governing Law for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  507. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the 
  508. substantive laws of Scotland whose courts shall have jurisdiction over 
  509. all disputes relating to this Agreement.

  511. 8. Implementation of the Council Directive on the Legal Protection of 
  512. Computer Programs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. 
  513. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise 
  514. attempt to discover the source code of the Software except as expressly 
  515. permitted under the Council Directive of 14 May 1991 on the Legal 
  516. Protection of Computer Programs ("the Directive"). For the avoidance of 
  517. doubt in the event of any inconsistency between the Directive and any 
  518. UK legislation the terms of the Directive shall prevail. Please note 
  519. that you may not decompile the Software unless it is essential to do so 
  520. in order to achieve operability of the Software with another software 
  521. program and you have first requested Adobe to provide the information 
  522. necessary to achieve such operability. Adobe has the right to impose 
  523. reasonable conditions and to request a reasonable fee before providing 
  524. such information. Any information supplied by Adobe or obtained by you, 
  525. as permitted hereunder, may only be used by you for the purpose stated 
  526. in the Directive and may not be disclosed to any third party or used to 
  527. create any software which is substantially similar to the expression of 
  528. the Software. Requests for information should be directed to the Customer

  550. The contractual rights which you enjoy by virtue of Section 12, 13, 14 and 
  551. 15 of the Sale of Goods Act, 1893 (as amended) are in no way prejudiced 
  552. by anything contained in this Agreement save (if you are not dealing as 
  553. a consumer or in the case of an international sale of goods) to the extent 
  554. permitted by law.

  556. Section 39 of the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980 is hereby 
  557. excluded with respect to the supply of the Software. The contractual rights 
  558. which you enjoy by virtue of the provisions of Section 39 of the Sale of 
  559. Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980 are in no way prejudiced by anything 
  560. contained in these terms and conditions save to the extent permitted by law.

  562. Adobe is acting on behalf of its suppliers for the purpose of disclaiming,

  564. provided in this Clause 9, but in no other respects and for no other purpose.

  570. 10. Governing Law for Eire. 
  571. This Agreement is governed by Irish law and you submit to the jurisdiction 
  572. of the Irish courts in relation to any matter or dispute arising hereunder.

  574. 11. Implementation of the European Communities (Legal Protection of Computer 
  575. Programs) Regulations, 1993 in Eire. You may make one backup copy of the 
  576. Software, in accordance with the provisions of the European Communities 
  577. (Legal Protection of Computer Programs) Regulations, 1993, provided your 
  578. backup copy is not installed or used on any computer. You agree not to 
  579. modify, adapt or translate the Software except as permitted under the 
  580. European Communities (Legal Protection of Computer Programs) Regulations, 
  581. 1993 in order to render the Software interoperable with other independently 
  582. created software and any such act must be restricted to the portions of 
  583. the Software which are necessary to achieve interoperability as stated.  
  584. You also agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise 
  585. attempt to discover the source code of the Software except as permitted 
  586. under the European Communities (Legal Protection of Computer Programs) 
  587. Regulations, 1993 in order to render the Software interoperable with other

  592. If it is necessary for you to decompile the Software in order to obtain 
  593. information necessary in order to render the Software interoperable with 
  594. other independently created software in accordance with European Communities 
  595. (Legal Protection of Computer Programs) Regulations, 1993, as stated above, 
  596. you may first request Adobe to provide such information. Adobe has the 
  597. right to impose reasonable conditions such as a reasonable fee for providing 
  598. such information. Requests for information can be directed to Customer
